Job Description
The Product Designer will maintain and improve the design system at Samsara, focusing on creating cohesive and accessible user experiences for web and mobile applications. This role involves collaborating with engineering teams, refining UI components, and supporting product designers in effectively utilizing the design system.
Responsibilities
- •Design and refine UI components, patterns, and styles for web and mobile experiences.
- •Collaborate with engineers to ensure correct, scalable, and accessible implementation of components.
- •Support product designers in adopting the design system and improve documentation.
- •Maintain clean and well-structured Figma libraries for easy use and updates.
- •Embed accessibility best practices into design system components.
- •Scale and improve design tokens for colors, typography, and spacing.
- •Contribute to clear and well-maintained design system documentation.
- •Monitor adoption and identify areas for improvement based on feedback.
Requirements
- •4 years of experience in product design, with at least 2 years working with a design system either as a contributor or in a dedicated role.
- •Strong UI and interaction design skills, with a deep understanding of visual consistency, layout systems, and component-based design.
- •Fluent in Figma, including component libraries, tokens, auto-layout, and prototyping.
- •Experience collaborating closely with engineers, ensuring high-quality handoffs and implementation.
- •A portfolio showcasing design system contributions, component work, and impact on team efficiency or product quality.
- •Attention to detail and passion for design craft, ensuring pixel-perfect, scalable, and maintainable design patterns.
- •Experience with accessibility standards WCAG and designing inclusive experiences.
