Job Description
The Process Safety Engineer at Solid Power will be responsible for ensuring the safety of powder production processes in the development of next-generation solid-state batteries, focusing on compliance with safety regulations and the implementation of safety management systems.
Responsibilities
- •Manage Process Safety Management (PSM) and Health and Safety regulatory compliance.
- •Support development of EHS Management systems and procedures.
- •Interface between EHS and the powders group to maintain safety culture.
- •Develop and execute safety solutions in powder manufacturing.
- •Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and lead safety assessments.
- •Recommend improvements to minimize hazards in processes and equipment.
- •Assist with Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for various tasks.
- •Review and update Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and related documentation.
- •Conduct site inspections and audits to identify safety issues.
- •Lead incident investigations and manage corrective actions.
- •Ensure compliance with safety and health standards and regulatory changes.
- •Develop and deliver EHS training programs for engineers and operators.
- •Assist in developing emergency response and evacuation plans.
- •Prepare and maintain records and reports related to safety activities.
Requirements
- •Bachelor's degree in safety engineering, chemical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
- •Minimum of 8 years of experience in safety engineering or a related field.
- •In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety management systems, international fire code, electrical area classification, combustible dust management, and EPA requirements and industry-specific safety standards.
- •Having in-depth working knowledge of regulations including OSHA 1910 including Subpart H, Subpart N, Subpart O and EPA 40 CFR 68.
- •Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- •Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- •Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
- •Hands-on experience, with demonstrated knowledge of industrial processes and the associated safety concerns.
- •Experience performing safety analyses including Hazard Analysis, FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis, and Human Error Assessments.
- •Ability to work safely in a potentially hazardous environment.
- •Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary including, but not limited to eye protection, hair net, gloves, face mask, coveralls, full-face respirator or PAPR.
