Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We’re doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.
About the Role
Redwood Materials is currently seeking a Staff BMS/BAS HVAC Controls Design Engineer to join our Engineering, Procurement, and Construction team. These roles are at the center of our activities focused on creating a sustainable circular economy for lithium-ion batteries by transforming recycled materials into battery materials for new lithium-ion battery production.
Responsibilities
HVAC controls programming, design, installation, commissioning, and demonstration of HVAC and infrastructure systems such as chillers, boilers, adiabatic coolers, cooling towers, air handling units, fan coils, VAV terminals, exhaust fans.
Developing control logic for HVAC and infrastructure systems and other equipment used for building automation to meet the intended operation sequence.
Testing and debugging of software using simulation tools, and implementation of the software at the site.
BMS/BAS graphics to include understanding owner requirements for graphics, developing graphical schemes and floor plans, and implementation of the graphics in the BMS/BAs system.
Reviewing mechanical plans/schedules, P&IDs, flow diagrams, as well as valve and actuator sizing, sensor selection, controller selection, network interface selection.
Control panel design, plant & control schematics, loop wiring diagrams, electrical interlocks, and designing BMS network risers.
Development of drawings for control panels, power distribution, junction boxes, plant & control schematics, loop wiring diagrams, electrical interlocks, and designing BMS network risers.
Development of control panel BOM’s.
Understanding of electrical diagrams, control diagrams, building operations, control circuits, industrial HVAC, PLCs, and VFDs.
Familiarity with various control protocols including Profinet, Modbus TCP, and BACnet IP.
Familiarity with integrating HVAC and infrastructure control systems into a PLC system such as Siemens.
Performing inspections, testing, and commission of the facility systems.
Work individually and as part of a team to develop new products, support existing products, test and evaluate equipment.
