About the Role
The Plant Welding Process Engineer will be the primary point of contact for materials, welding, and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). In this role, you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
Responsibilities
Identify applicable materials, welding and NDT standards and internal Engineering/Manufacturing Technical Practices and define how those are applied/proceduralized
Provide assurance of compliance against the above-mentioned standards and practices
Identify, assess, report, and manage key materials, welding, and NDT risks
Provide QA/QC services on all relevant welding and NDT issues
Provide oversight for operation and maintenance of plant NDT equipment
Liaison with GE Energy Materials and Process Engineering to resolve issues and drive improvements
Manage on-site Metallurgical Laboratory
Engage shop employees to get their active involvement in the key practical materials, welding, and NDT issues to ensure technical choices can practically be implemented in a safe and efficient manner
Utilize Lean tools and advanced technology to improve business operations and support NPIs
Provide technical oversight of plasma coating processes
