About the Role
The Field Service Engineer - Automation under general guidance and minimal supervision, performs a wide range of engineering tasks and ensures proper installation, service and commissioning of products and services.
Responsibilities
Perform a wide range of engineering tasks to ensure the technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of GE automation systems at site locations during ship construction.
Perform troubleshooting activities at site locations during scheduled Port visits or at sea to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implement corrective actions.
Develop requisite documentation to execute work e.g. commissioning procedures, maintenance procedures daily logs etc.
Execute on site project management and technical leader duties to resolve customer issues and provide customer satisfaction.
Develop presentations and provide training and instruction to customers.
Coordinate additional opportunities to serve the customer with the customer service team, parts, other FSE’s, repair services, sales, and product engineering teams.
Advise the customer of recommended upgrades, parts, and service opportunities to improve customer productivity and sell GE parts and services.
Coordinate maintenance activities for the customer and planning for inspections.
Provide support to engineering teams working on customer modernization projects.
Provide support the bidding process for the customer modernization projects.
Provide on call support in response to customer calls for service.
Complete timely service reports and other administrative requirements.
Perform work on-board vessels within GE / Customer safety guidelines either in shipyards or offshore.
Extended hours / overtime may be required during peak periods and emergency circumstances.
Domestic or overseas travel to customer sites for extended periods of time.
