Job Description
The Senior Project Engineer will manage the design and engineering processes for solar and energy storage projects, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and optimizing project performance. This role involves coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders, overseeing project deliverables, and supporting construction activities.
Responsibilities
- •Manage the review, coordination, and approval of detailed design packages for solar and energy storage projects.
- •Oversee internal and external personnel to provide optimized designs.
- •Participate in the negotiation and execution of key contract exhibits.
- •Support construction and commissioning activities by reviewing and approving commissioning test reports.
- •Review engineering deliverables to ensure final design meets contractual requirements.
- •Develop and evaluate energy input assessments and power output expectations.
- •Optimize site layouts and equipment selection to maximize performance.
- •Direct activities of designers, consultants, and contractors to meet deadlines.
- •Write, edit, and review technical documents and reports.
- •Review and negotiate technical aspects of EPC contracts and interconnect agreements.
- •Coordinate with the Development team and external consultants for energy resource predictions.
- •Manage contractor deliverables during construction to meet contractual milestones.
- •Act as a technical escalation point and owner's representative during construction.
- •Represent Clearway in meetings and negotiations with various stakeholders.
- •Contribute to Clearway's technology roadmap and project management processes.
Requirements
- •B.S. degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering, or a related subject
- •Minimum 6 years of solar and storage industry experience
- •5 years of direct EPC experience completing the detailed design, permitting, and construction of solar projects
- •Understanding of solar and storage project design and optimization tradeoffs
- •Familiarity with the current solar and storage market, equipment suppliers, contractors, typical technical specifications, and costs
- •Experience with solar and storage project financing and independent engineer requirements
- •Understanding of solar and storage energy estimates, losses, assumptions, and standards
- •Experience with review and negotiation of engineering, procurement, and construction contracts and technical exhibits for solar and storage facilities
- •Experience managing consultants and contractors
- •Working knowledge of relevant US and IEC equipment standards, codes, and construction practices
- •Detail-oriented and self-motivated
- •Ability and willingness to travel 20% and occasionally work after hours on short notice
- •Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- •Mathematical competence
- •Analytical and problem-solving skills
- •M.S. degree and/or PE preferred
- •No sponsorship for nonimmigrant visas (H-1B, TN, E-3, etc.)
